Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was left “frustrated” by his side’s lack of efficiency at Anfield last night.

The Portuguese acknowledged Liverpool didn’t “deserve to lose” the League Cup semi-final first leg, after Raheem Sterling’s second-half equaliser tied up Eden Hazard’s 18th-minute penalty.

“We recover the ball so many times,” said Mourinho, who contrasted the display with Chelsea's 5-0 win at Swansea on Saturday. “We missed so many passes, so many passes.

"Recover the ball, lose the ball, recover the ball, lose the ball. Exactly the opposite that happened against Swansea. Against Swansea, recover the ball, the right pass, the right choice. Counter attack.

“We recovered the ball but we were not efficient in the transition. To score only one goal frustrates me.”

While insisting he didn’t see the incident surrounding Liverpool’s penalty claims, the Stamford Bridge boss also stated that his goalkeepers, Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois, stand alongside Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer as the three best netminders in the world.
