Today is all about hurling tradition, hurling royalty, the chance for hurling greatness. After the flurry of uncertainty that was last summer, today the rulers of the game return to battle it for the crown – Tipp and Kilkenny, - it doesn’t get bigger.

The absence of last year has given an extra spark to today’s build up. Maybe the hearts of both sides have grown fonder for this battle because of it. For Brian Cody and Henry Shefflin, both going for their tenth All-Ireland titles, today could be the day that stands above all others at the end of two of the game’s greatest ever careers.
