Lee Carsley has been appointed as Head Coach of Championship side Brentford until the end of the season.
The former Irish international takes over from Marinus Dijkhuizen at Griffin Park. Dijkhuizen and his backroom team only took the job at the end of last season after Mark Warburton's contract was not renewed despite leading the side to the Championship play-offs. The side lie in 18th place after eight games.
Carsley previously worked with Brentford's development squad. His previous managerial experience included two caretaker spells at Coventry City where he also acted as assistant coach.
The 41 year old played 40 times for Ireland from 1997 to 2006. He came off the bench in the 2002 World Cup as Ireland defeated Saudi Arabia 3-0.
