A united Ireland would cause a financial shock in the Republic which would lead to tax increases or spending cuts while the standard of living would also drop. That was the warning from Trinity College Dublin Economist John Fitzgerald before the Oireachtas Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement.  John spoke to us this morning on the show.
