A woman has died in a house  fire in Co Meath.

The blaze broke out in a house on Castlemartin Avenue in Bettystown at around 9.40am on Saturday morning.

The woman, who was aged in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has been removed to the mortuary at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan.

A post mortem is due to take place.

Gardaí in Laytown are investigating the incident.
