Ireland has officially had the hottest day of the year so far, with 26.1 degrees recorded in the Botanic Gardens in north Dublin yesterday afternoon.

People are making the most of the spell of fine weather, by flocking to beaches and waterways across the country.

Met Eireann says top temperatures today are expected to hit around 25 degrees, and there’s cloud in many parts with sunny spells.
