Two people have been arrested following a massive drugs haul worth €400,000 in the Midlands and Dublin yesterday.

A 35-year-old man was arrested after gardaí discovered €300,000 worth of heroin during the search of a car in Crumlin yesterday afternoon.

The man is being held at Crumlin Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.

During a follow-up search yesterday evening, heroin with an estimated value of €100,000 was seized at a house in the Killucan area of Co Westmeath.

A 26-year-old woman was arrested and is being held at Mullingar Garda Station.

Gardaí say the seizures came as part of an operation targeting Midlands-based drug trafficking.

The investigation is ongoing.
