Running from 1989 to 1999, the Baywatch TV series was a massive international success, resulting in over 240 episodes and numerous spin-offs.

While nobody has really attempted to respark that particular fire for TV, Hollywood has come calling for the big-screen adaptation.

Directed by Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses, Modern Family) and starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario,  the film is currently in pre-production and not due to hit cinemas until 2017.

However, all eyes were still on who would land the coveted role of C.J. Parker, initially made famous thanks to the slow-motion running of one Pamela Anderson.

Today it's been announced that model/actress Kelly Rohrbach will be taking up the mantle, and its been made official thanks to the Instagram profile of The Rock himself.

For our #BAYWATCH and the iconic role of "CJ Parker" I had to make sure @kellyrohrbach was... tough.

While The Rock is clearly a fan of the casting decision, Pamela Anderson spoke out against the remake to E! Online: "It was charming on television and when you make a TV show [into] a movie I think it loses some of its charm. [...] I'm irreplaceable. No one could play me."
