Today
Any frost, ice and fog will clear this morning to give a mostly dry day with bright or sunny spells in many areas. However, there will be a few showers in the west, mainly along the coast, and there will be some lingering rain over parts of Ulster. During the afternoon, showers in the west will become more widespread for a time, some turning wintry on higher ground.
Southwesterly winds will freshen as the day goes on and it will feel rather cold with highest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees Celsius.
Tonight
Tonight will be cold and mainly dry over the southern half of the country with just isolated showers with clear spells and widespread frost and ice on the roads. However, rather cloudy further north with outbreaks of rain, sleet or snow, becoming widespread across Ulster and Connacht later in the night.
Lowest temperatures of +2 to -1 degrees Celsius. Winds will be light to moderate southwesterly but will become northwesterly along the Atlantic seaboard later in the night and freshen.
