The new Garda figures have been announced for 2015, and they show a wide range of changes in crimes around the city.
Begging offences in Dublin City Centre rose by significant 415% in 2015.
There has also been a 12% increase in crimes against the person, with the greatest increase coming in assaults.
Gardai are due to introduce a targeted operation to deal with shop lifting and muggings in Dublin.
However, there has been 28% fewer cases of possession of firearms, while drug offences dropped by 2%.
Burglaries fell by 16% but public order offences rose 13% from 2014.
