It's claimed 700 people a day are diagnosed with diabetes in the UK - which works out as one person every two minutes.

Diabetes UK says it can leave many feeling isolated, they are urging people to get the help and support needed.

Bridget Turner from the charity says more and more people are living with the disease, informing that "There is a difference between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, because Type 1 can't be prevented, and 80% of Type 2 Diabetes can be prevented, but in reality that's still 20% that are going to develop Type 2 Diabetes."

The charity claims that diabetes is the "fastest growing health threat of our times" with more than 3.5 million people in the UK now diagnosed.

The number of people living with diabetes since 1996 has doubled, with obesity largely blamed for the rise in Type 2 diabetes.

Annual spending on diabetes in the UK is expected to increase from £9.8 billion to £16.9 billion over the next 21 years.
