The British Prime Minister is to meet the European Council President today to discuss Brexit.

Donald Tusk and Boris Johnson will meet on the fringes of the G7 summit in Biarritz, as discussions between the leaders of the 7 wealthiest democracies gets underway today.

It comes after Mr Tusk said the British PM won't want to go down in history as 'Mr. No Deal'.

Gardai following a definite line of inquiry following a serious assault in Co Meath yesterday.

A young man remains in a critical condition in hospital this morning after the attack on Watergate Street in Navan at around 3am.

The 21 year-old was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with serious injuries and has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Yesterday officers fired tear gas and rubber bullets after violence erupted for the first time in nearly two weeks.

Crowds threw bricks and gasoline bombs at riot-gear-clad officers from makeshift street barricades outside a police station.

A 60-foot pine tree was hit at East Lake just after play had been suspended - shattering the bark from top to bottom.

Brazil's president insists he's taking a tough approach to wildfires in the Amazon rainforest.

Jair Bolsonaro has been heavily criticised for his handling of the crisis and accused of allowing wide deforestation.

It's believed some of the fires have been started by people trying to clear farmland.
