Authorities in China are warning that the coronavirus that has killed nine people in the country is mutating and adapting.

The virus has spread from Wuhan province to Beijing to Shanghai. And cases have been detected in the US, Thailand, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

Some 440 cases of the virus were confirmed as of Wednesday and authorities have confirmed that it can spread through human-to-human contact.

The World Health Organisation is due to hold an emergency meeting later today to determine whether the outbreak constitutes a global health emergency.

Three people remain in custody over what police describe as the biggest money-laundering operation ever in Northern Ireland.

More than 250 million euro was seized over a 48 hour period in recent days.

15 properties were searched, with the police operation focusing on the international dealings of Irish crime gangs.

They're alleged to have been using shell companies as a disguise since 2011.

The inquest into the death of Mark Hennessy will hear evidence later from the Garda who shot him.

The 40-year-old Bray native abducted and killed Jastine Valdez in May 2018, before being found by Gardaí in a Dublin business park.

The inquest into his death reopened yesterday, where it heard from Gardaí who were on the scene when he died.

Today, the Detective Garda who shot Mr Hennessy will give evidence.

Irish prisoners were paid more than 2.5 million euro in pocket-money in the first ten months of last year.

The details have been released under the Freedom of Information Act.

Every inmate receives a daily allowance from the Irish Prison Service, which ranges from 95 cents to 2 euro, 20 cents.

They can get up to 3.50 per week extra for working in areas such as prison kitchens or laundries.
