A man aged in his 50s has died after being knocked down by a lorry in Co Mayo this morning.
It happened in Knockmore near Ballina at around 9:20am.
The road between Shraheen school and Knockmore remains closed for a forensic examination.
Diversions are in place.
In a separate incident, Gardaí in Mountmellick are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred in the townland of Clonaghadoo, Mountmellick, Co Laois this afternoon.
A man in his mid 60s suffered fatal injuries when the car he was driving was involved in a collision with another vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at scene.
His body has been taken to Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise where a post mortem is to be arranged.
The second driver was removed to Tullamore Hospital and her injuries are believed not to be serious.
The road is currently closed and diversions are in place.
