A Leitrim councillor has been added to the Fianna Fáil ticket in Sligo Leitrim for the General Election.

Paddy O'Rourke joins Senator Marc MacSharry and Councillor Eamon Scanlon, both from Sligo, who were selected at the party convention in April last year.

There's been speculation since then that a candidate from County Leitrim would be added.

Councillor O'Rourke is strategically placed for this election, living only a mile from the west Cavan border; this new constituency takes in part of West Cavan, as well as all of counties Leitrim and Sligo, and South Donegal.
