What do Kim Kardashian and Michael D Higgins have in common?
Both, it would seem, believe children should spend their evenings having fun, not doing home.
Two years ago, the President said that, “I think as much as possible that [homework] should happen in the school and I think it’s more relaxed than it used to be.”
Now Kim Kardashian has given her view on the matter.
"I don't believe in homework," the superstar said.
"But I'm going to tell you why; kids are in school for eight hours a day.
“When they come home, they need to also … they do sports, have a life, spend time with their family.
“I think that homework should be left for in school.”
On Lunchtime Live, Kayleigh Trappe said she sympathised with Kayleigh Trappe’s remarks.
“To be fair, when I was a teacher I would actually always say I prefer the idea of having no homework,” she said.
“Let’s be honest, homework turns kitchen tables into warzones and I understand that.
“But on the flipside, if it wasn’t for homework, I probably wouldn’t know that Carlow was a county or my timetables because my father drilled it into me.”
Ms Trappe added that she understood why many parents would prefer just to spend time with their children.
“If you’re a parent who is working nine to five and your child is coming home and you only have a couple of hours in the evening with your child, you would like them to be having quality time with their children together,” she said.
“Rather than sitting down and drilling something into them.”
