Val Doonican, the Irish entertainer, has died age 88.
Doonican began his career in his hometown of Waterford before making a successful move to England, where he hosted The Val Doonican Show on the BBC for over 20 years, from 1965 to 1986.
Doonican had six Irish top 10 singles over the course of his career.

He retired form performing in 2009.
He is survived by his wife Lynn, daughters Sarah and Fiona and grandchildren Bethany and Scott.
His family say he passed away peacefully in his sleep.
