Ireland's oldest person has passed away aged 109.
Molly Madden (née) Keane was born in Galway and became our oldest citizen after the death of Helena Gibbons in Massachusetts at the age of 108 in 2002.
According to the Mayo News, she moved to Kincon in North Mayo as a child and later to Ballycastle, where she married local man Pat Madden.

The couple were married for 65 years until his death in 2009.
Her death comes shortly after her birthday, on December 8th, which she celebrated with family in Moyridge Nursing Home.
