Ireland's first baby of 2016 was born at University Maternity Hospital, Limerick.

It was thought that a little girl born in Holles St in Dublin was first at 21 seconds past 12, but Kieran Patrick Gibbons pipped her to the post entering the world at just 11 seconds past midnight.

Kieran weighs 8 pounds 3 ounces while Dublin-born baby Gabriella weighs 8 pounds 14 ounces and her mother Gretta is doing well.
