It cost over €102m to run the Houses of the Oireachtas last year, €6m less than budgeted.

There were 124 Dail sittings during 2014, representing 977 sitting hours, with 103 Seanad sitting days or 594 hours.

118 new bills were published and 44 were passed.

At the end of the year there were 401 civil service staff employed in the Service.

This was an increase of 22, or six per cent on the previous year, which was mainly due to the recruitment of staff for the Banking Inquiry.
