Gardaí have released the registration plate number of a car whose driver they hope to speak to, following the death of a teenager last week.
Bryan Lowe was 16-years-old and was riding an e-bike, when he was hit in Clonlara, on the Limerick-Clare border, on Friday evening. The second vehicle in the crash failed to remain at the scene.
In Rathkeale, County Limerick, a jeep also crashed into a two-year-old boy playing on a miniature tractor on Saturday afternoon. Peter Mulcaire was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where he died from his injuries.
On Newstalk Breakfast, local journalist David Raleigh described it as a weekend of “tragedy” for the Mid West.
Gardaí are now hoping to speak to the driver of a silver-gold coloured Skoda Octavia, which was seen around the Clonlara and Castle Connell areas on Friday evening and on Saturday morning.
“Gardaí have released to the media the registration plate details for that Skoda Octavia which is 05C 5982,” Mr Raleigh said.
“Gardaí have appealed to anyone with information about that car, or who has any dashcam, doorbell footage, CCTV, mobile phone footage, which may help their enquiries to pass that to the investigation team at Henry Street Gardaí station in Limerick.”

Tributes have been paid to Peter Mulcaire, who had started preschool just days beforehand; his family had shared photos online of him smiling before he headed off.
A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed and a Garda investigation into his death has begun at Newcastle West Garda Station.
“Gardaí say this Jeep involved in this hit and run obviously did not remain at the scene they said,” Mr Raleigh said.
“They said a male found driving the Jeep afterwards at another location was arrested by Gardaí under suspicion of driving while intoxicated for the purposes of providing Gardaí with a blood or urine sample.
“The man aged in his 30s provided an evidential sample and was then released pending the results of that sample.”
CCTV footage from the area is being examined and Gardaí are keen to speak to any witnesses.
