Mr Redmond served six months in jail in 2003 on two counts of corruption. However, the conviction was quashed by the Court of Criminal Appeal the following year and he was released.

In 2014, the Planning Tribunal agreed to withdraw findings of corruption and obstruction regarding Mr Redmond from its third interim report in 2004.

Mr Redmond had challenged the findings in 2005, and won a Supreme Court appeal in 2013 aimed at allowing him continue with his action.

Speaking in December 2014, Mr Redmond said his battle had been going on a long time and has had a huge effect on his family.
