Taxi app FreeNow has apologised after a technical glitch meant many users were deprived of €200 worth of vouchers. 

This morning, customers were asked to solve a Christmas riddle, with those who answered correctly offered vouchers as a prize. 

“I’m made of snow but never feel the cold,” the app told customers. 

“The answer to this riddle is a promo code worth €200 towards your next 10 trips.”

The company said only the first 100 passengers with the correct answer, a snowman, would get the vouchers but a technical error meant everyone who solved it received vouchers. 

FreeNow has said those who were not among the first 100 passengers have had their vouchers revoked. 

"We express our sincere apologies for any confusion or inconvenience caused to passengers as a result of this technical issue which has since been resolved," the company said. 

Those who were among the first 100 to answer the riddle are still entitled to use their vouchers.
