Only last week, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that Star Wars: Episode VIII had begun filming, and already today we have been gifted with our first production video.
To be fair, while the video is only 30 seconds long, it does pick up right where The Force Awakens left things off, so if you haven't seen that movie yet - and having recently passed the $2 billion worldwide box office mark, it would appear you are in the minority - then beware.
Along with the video, Disney confirmed that Academy-award winning actor Benicio Del Toro would be joining the cast, along with Academy-award nominee Laura Dern, along with relative unknown Kelly Marie Tran.
They will be joining returning cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.
The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams will be exec-producing this sequel, with the writer/director reins handed over to Rian Johnson (Looper, Brick).
Star Wars: Episode VIII is due to arrive in Irish cinemas on December 15th 2017, preceded by prequel/spin-off Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, due out December 16th this year.
