Gardaí have confirmed that they believe a man injured following the discovery of a woman's body in South Dublin, is her estranged husband.

The body of 38-year-old Joanne Lee was found in a wardrobe at a house in Ranelagh, South Dublin yesterday afternoon.

A man is being treated in hospital after, it is believed, he jumped from a window at the scene.

Gardaí have said they are following a definite line of inquiry.

Joanne’s body was found wrapped in a sleeping bag.

Her family have said their souls have been torn apart following her death.

She had been reported missing earlier this week after being last seen on Tuesday.

Joanne was last seen at her parent’s home on the 5th of February in Garristown, Co Meath.

Superintendent Gerry Delmar made this appeal this afternoon:

“I would like to appeal to anybody that last saw Joanne on the 5th of February at Garristown in Co Meath to contact us,” he said.

“Joanne also has access to a car; it is a silver Nissan Micra 08MH 16073 – anybody that may have seen her in that car.”

A preliminary post-mortem has been carried out on the body, with a full examination to be carried out later today.

The examination should give an indication as to how and where she died.

Joanne’s uncle, John Curry, says the family is heartbroken:

“The whole family is devastated,” he said. “The whole family is just taken apart; it’s just torn the soul out of us.

He said she was a “lovely girl, a beautiful girl” adding there was “never an ounce of trouble form her; nothing from her.”

Gardaí said they are examining all the circumstances surrounding the discovery.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Donnybrook Garda Station on 01-666-9200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111, or any Garda station.
