TDs unable to leave Leinster House due to climate change protests

Several TDs have been unable to leave Leinster House in Dublin city because of climate change protests.

They have been stuck in the building for the past three hours because Extinction Rebellion protesters are blocking the gates.

Newstalk.com understands that around 20 TDs and some ministers are in the building.

Varadkar and Johnson 'could see pathway to possible Brexit deal'

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said there is a "pathway" towards a Brexit deal in the UK.

It comes after he met British Prime Minister Boris Johnson for around three hours on Thursday in Cheshire, England.

In a joint statement afterwards, the two leaders said discussions were "detailed and constructive".

TUI members vote for industrial action over pay discrimination

Members of the Teachers' Union of Ireland (TUI) have voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action, up to and including strike action.

It is part of a campaign to end pay discrimination.

Members have voted by a margin of 92% to 8% to endorse the union's mandate for industrial action.

HIV PrEP programme to start in Ireland from November

The Government has confirmed a pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) programme to prevent HIV is to be rolled out from November 4th.

The programme will initially be provided in a number of STI clinics.

It will then expand in 2020, following the announcement of funding of €5.4m for full roll-out next year in Budget 2020.

Crowds gather to see 'Virgin Mary' appearing in Co Kerry

People are flocking to an antique shop in Co Kerry, to witness a cabinet with a grain in the wood they think resembles the Virgin Mary.

Vintage Vendors in Tralee posted pictures of the mahogany display on Facebook and it has since gone viral.

It is believed not everyone that goes to view the piece can actually see the resemblance.
