A Quinn Industrial Holdings executive and brother of Kevin Lunney says the prospect of walking away from the firm has "certainly" crossed his mind.
Tony Lunney is the production director at QIH.
In an interview broadcast on BBC last night, Tony's brother Kevin spoke publicly for the first time since he was abducted and assaulted two months ago.
He described how he was beaten and tortured by three men in an attack that lasted for about two and a half hours
Ireland facing “epidemic” of sexual violence
The Government has been accused of an ‘abysmal failure’ in its efforts to tackle gender-based violence in Ireland.
The Dáil has been discussing the Ana Kriegel murder trial this afternoon.
Solidarity TD Ruth Coppinger said the case marked “probably the most extreme example of sexual assault and misogyny the country has seen” and said she wished to send solidarity to the Kriegel family.
She noted that the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre has declared a “public health epidemic of sexual violence” and warned that Ireland’s support services are severely underfunded – with rape crisis services unable to meet demand.
High Court grants leave for judicial review in Dáil ‘money messages’controversy
The High Court has refused an injunction to force a change to Dáil business - but will grant leave for a judicial review sought by People Before Profit TDs.
It comes amid a row over a motion on 'money messages'.
Judge Garrett Simons said "there is at least an arguable case that the current understanding of the money message procedure may be overly generous - or overly broad".
He explained he wouldn't grant an injunction as he was concerned about the separation of powers, and this would have been the courts re-writing the Dáil order paper.
Varadkar calls for end to asylum seeker ‘scaremongering’
The Taoiseach says there's a need to call out scaremongering about asylum seekers, as there are people attempting to exploit local concerns for 'political, personal or - in some cases - racist reasons'.
It follows recent protests against a number of Direct Provision centres around the country.
Speaking at an Immigration Council event in Dublin this morning, Leo Varadkar acknowledged that the Government needs to engage better with local communities to address their concerns.
However, he also suggested some people are trying to take advantage of that.
Ryanair planes under repair after cracks found
Ryanair has confirmed that repairs are being carried on a small number of its planes after an inspection uncovered structural cracks.
It comes after the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) warned that thousands of Boeing’s 737 aircraft needed to be inspected for ‘pickle fork’ cracks.
The pickle forks are the components that attach the wings to the plane body and the FAA said the problem had developed on a number of US aerospace firm’s older planes.
It called for all planes that had flown more than 30,000 flights to be inspected for the issue within a week. It said planes that have flown between 26,000 and 29,999 flights should be inspected in the longer term.
