The DSCPA is holding a Cat Adoption Festival - featuring cats such as Oli Purrs, Spayonce and the Red Hot Chilli Purr-Purrs.

"Cattitude" takes place this Thursday in Dublin, between 3pm and 8pm. The shelter hopes the one day event at their Rathfarnham campus will help to rehome many animals.

The DSPCA says the summer is the busiest time of the year for cat numbers.

Anyone interested in adopting can meet their potential new friend for a picnic in the cattery.

There will be a reduced adult cat adoption fee of €50, subject to an interview and application forms.

However DSPCA says the cats - which also include the likes of Tail-or Swift, Mice Cube and Take Cat - will be ready to go on the day, so they're advising those attending and hoping to adopt a cat to bring a suitable pet carrier.

More information about the adoption process is available on the DSPCA website.
