Garda appeal as man remains in critical condition after aggravated burglary in Cork

Gardaí have appealed for information as a man remains in a critical condition in hospital after being doused in petrol and set alight during an aggravated burglary in Cork city.

The incident occurred shortly before 4 am this morning when three people entered the house in Lotamore armed with a metal object.

They assaulted the occupant of the house - a man in his 20s.

The injured man was taken to Cork University Hospital after suffering apparent burn injuries, and gardaí say his condition is believed to be serious.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Gardaí in Mayfield are appealing to anyone who was in the Dunard area from 3 am to 4.30 am this morning.

They are asking road users, particularly those who may have dash cam footage, or anyone who may have CCTV of the surrounding areas to contact them.
