Gardaí are appealing for potential witnesses of an “aggravated burglary” in County Mayo to come forward.

It happened in Swinford between 7.00pm and 7.30pm on Monday where two people entered a home armed with a knife.

A man who lived in the house was threatened but was not injured.

The armed individuals took some items from the home, including a vehicle – which was recovered later that evening in Coolaney, County Sligo.

Gardaí are asking for anyone who was travelling in the areas of Killasser, Aclare, Tobercurry, Coolaney, and surroundings, between 6.00pm and 8.30pm to contact them.

They are particularly interested in speaking to those who may have dash cam footage or anyone who may have observed a 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser in the area during this time.

An incident room has been set up at Ballina Garda Station.
