A new Spanish mayoress has caused quite a stir on the notoriously ruthless web after pictures emerged of her inauguration with her toes poking out either side of her shoe.
During her swearing in ceremony, Mamen Sanchez, found that headlines had captured her attire rather than what she had been speaking about.
Pictures and memes began to surface on the web soon after as she became the butt of many gaffes with some people comparing her feet to much worse conditions while others give their own versions.

However, Sanchez took it in good spirits tweeting: 'It's been a long time since I've laughed as much with the comments, memes and article about my shoes and little toes.'
Sanchez also went on to post a photo of Team Mamen 'without hang-ups' - a close-up of her and four other women with their little toe hanging out of their sandals.
