Tributes have been paid to a young Irishman who drowned in a swimming pool in Greece.
Twenty-two-year-old Rory Deegan from Oldtown, Cullohill, County Laois will be laid to rest on Tuesday afternoon at St. Tighearnach's Church.
It is understood he had travelled with friends to Greece for the summer and was working there.
In a statement, the local Harps GAA Club described him as a “shining light with an infectious smile and character.”
Rory was born into a family with a passion for hurling and he was described as being “instrumental” in the club’s Junior County Final win.
He is survived by his parents, grandparents, brothers Conor, Barry, Ross, Jack and sister Rachael.
