Many of you will know about Joanne O’Riordan. She is the 18 year old from Cork who was born with Total Amelia which means she has no limbs. Joanne’s optimistic attitude to her condition and indeed life has beguiled a nation.

Two years ago she set down a challenge; build me a robot.

A team of Engineers at Trinity College took up the challenge and early this year they unveiled a prototype robot for Joanne

He is called ‘Robbie’ and he walks, picks things up and also blinks a bit.

This week on Futureproof we meet Robbie and the team making him blink. Here’s a video we made when we paid Robbie a visit.
