2014 was the year that Apple reasserted its authority at the high-end of the tech market, and Tim Cook is reaping the rewards of his breakout year as the company's CEO - his pay packet for the last 12 months came in at a tidy $9.2m (€8.2m).

This is a 100 percent increase on what he made in 2013 - but he's not close to being the best paid employee at the Californian firm.

Retail boss Angela Ahrendts is the top earner - she took home $73.4m (€65.2m) in cash and stock.

In previous life she was the CEO of Burberry.

Here's the Apple statement explaining her salary:

"In determining her transition package, the Compensation Committee considered Ms. Ahrendts’ compensation arrangement at Burberry and the amounts that she was expected to receive in future years. At the time, Ms. Ahrendts was among the highest paid executives in the UK and held unvested Burberry equity awards with a value of approximately $37 million. She also received cash and perquisites from Burberry that exceeded $5 million annually, which was significantly higher than the cash opportunities provided to the Company’s executive officers."

Angela Ahrendts' predecessor, John Browett, left Apple in October 2012, the company took over a year to fill the key position.

In 2015 she will be responsible for making sure that the Apple Watch sells once it goes on sale.
