Drivers are being warned to take extra care as heavy snow is forecast for many counties in the north-west.
A status orange snow and ice warning remains in place for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
Snow accumulations of between 4 and 8cms are forecast. Met Éireann says the highest amounts will be on high ground.
While a yellow warning is in place for Longford, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway and Roscommon.
Between 2 to 4cms of snow are possible in those areas.
Both warnings are in place until midday on Friday.
Met Éireann is forecasting frost and icy patches in many areas, with lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees.
Brian Farrell from the Road Safety Authority (RSA) says black-ice can be particularly treacherous when temperatures dip below freezing.
