Baton Rouge sheriff claims shootings are not about gun control but about "what’s in men’s hearts"

Law enforcement officials and the Governor of Louisiana have held a joint press conference addressing the tragedy in Baton Rouge on Sunday.

Sheriff Sid Gautreaux added they were "grieving as a law enforcement community," in the wake of the shootings, and confirmed that there were three further officers receiving treatment, one of whom was in a critical condition and fighting for his life. 

Brother of Pakistani social media queen says he has "no regrets" over her killing

Wasim Baloch confessed to murdering his sister and described it as an "honour killing". In a statement, Multan City police chief Azhar Akram said "The police arrested Muhammad Wasim, brother of Qandeel Baloch, for killing his sister late on Saturday.

"Wasim confessed to his crime, saying he killed his sister for honour after her recent objectionable videos, mostly posted on Facebook."

Jim Gavin says he expects players to "look after themselves" after clash over hair ruffle

Jim Gavin says he expects his players "to look after themselves" and remained unfazed by Diarmuid Connolly's involvement with Westmeath's James Dolan in the first half of today's Leinster final.

After a tackle between the two players, Dolan ruffled Connolly's hair and Connolly took exception to this contact. He caught up with Dolan and put him in a headlock before taking him to ground. Westmeath players were involved straight away and both Dolan and Connolly were given yellow cards.

Pokemon Go is finally available in Ireland

For those of you out there who have been playing Pokemon Go through a workaround on your iPhone or Android device, there's some good news from this weekend. 

Nintendo have announced that the game has been officially released in 26 new countries, including Ireland.

IS claims responsibility for Nice terror attack

The Islamic State militant group has said it was behind the massacre in Nice in which at least 84 people were killed including 10 children.

The claim of responsibility, reported by the jihadist-linked Amaq news agency, comes as five people were detained following the attack in the French resort city.

Amaq quoted an IS security source as saying one of its "soldiers" carried out the atrocity "in response to calls to target nations of coalition states that are fighting (IS)".
