All traces of Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 have disappeared from the Irish market, but it has been reported that the phones may be sold in emerging markets such as India and Vietnam.

A South Korean publication, Hankyung, claims the refurbished phones may be sold in June of this year with a 3,000mAh - 3,200mAh battery, as opposed to the 3,500mAh battery that caused the issues.

Samsung is thought to have 2.5 million Note 7 devices in its possession after 200,000 were used to identify the issue, which caused the explosion of some phones.

While selling the phones on with help with the loss of profits, the company is thought to want to sell the phones to avoid the environmental concerns associated with the disposal of smartphones on this scale.

A source familiar with the issue told Reuters last month, after the company disclosed that faulty batteries were responsible for the fire cases, that reselling some Galaxy Note 7 units as refurbished phones was an option for the company.
