In pre-production since 2013, fans of Harry Potter will finally get to see the wizard's latest adventure this year.

Harry Potter & The Cursed Child will be performed elusively in London's West End Palace Theater, with previews running from June 7th, and the play set to run in full from July 30th right on through to May 2017.

Fans of the series who aren't London-adjacent need not fret, though. A novelization of the Harry Potter & The Cursed Child: Parts 1 & 2 is set for publication release from July 31st, based on the play's script co-written by J.K. Rowling and Jack Throne.

Official Harry Potter website Pottermore released a statement today, informing fans that the initial working script would form the basis of the Special Rehearsed Edition of the novel, but as the script changes through pre-production and production, this will eventually be replaced by a Definitive Collector’s Edition at a later date.

The plot for the new story, which picks up 19 years after the events of Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows: Parts 1 & 2, has also been given a synopsis for those who can't wait to find out first hand:

“It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.”
