A 30-year missing person’s case has been solved as a man remembered his own name for the first time since he disappeared.

In 1986, age 21, Edgar Latulip disappeared from a group home in Kitchiner, Ontario, Canada.

Latulip’s family presumed he had died, but as his memory has recently come back, the now 50-year-old Latulip has been able to solve a 30 year old unsolved case.

Police believe Latulip may have suffered a head injury after taking a bus from Niagara Falls from Kitchener in 1986. They think this could be the root of this memory loss.

Mr Latulip’s memory has slowly begun last month, as he told a social worker that he was beginning to remember previously forgotten moments from his past. The social worker searched online and discovered the detaisl he had given matched the 1986 case.

These revelations led to DNA tests which confirmed his identify.

He has developmental delays, and functions at the level of a child, reports say. His mother last saw him when he was in a hospital bed following a suicide attempt. They will be reunited soon, police say.
