German authorities are expected to give approval tomorrow for the Bundesliga to return behind closed doors on Friday May 15th.

It's reported by Reuters that Chancellor Angela Merkel will hold a conference call with state premiers to sign off on measures to ease the lock down.

Germany has been more successful than most countries in combating the pandemic, with every 100 people carrying the virus infecting 74 others.

Yesterday, it was revealed that 10 positive tests emerged after 1724 tests were conducted on players in both divisions of the Bundesliga.

The tests involved 36 clubs and further testing is taking place this week.

The three Cologne players that tested positive last week are now showing no symptoms. They have been placed in quarantine for 14 days and training has been permitted to resume.

Players have to test negative twice in a row to be able to train or to play matches.

There are nine games remaining in the season for most of the clubs in Bundesliga 1 - with Bayern Munich holding a four point lead at the top of the table over Borussia Dortmund.

Hertha Berlin have suspended the former Chelsea player Salomon Kalou after he posted a video on social media interrupting one player's medical check and shaking hands with another player.
