Former Republic of Ireland defender Gary Breen feels Celtic fans are well within their rights to feel let down by Brendan Rodgers.

The Antrim man made a speedy exit from the top job in Scottish football after being offered the chance to manage Leicester City.

Celtic fans have reacted with resentment towards Rodgers, despite his achievements at the club.

The former Liverpool boss won every domestic trophy on offer during his two and a half seasons in charge.

He leaves with the club still on course to secure the treble. Breen though feels fans are right to feel besmirched:

Breen on Brendan Rodgers: "It doesn’t sit well."

“Supporters will quite rightly question the loyalty, the timing just doesn’t sit right does it?

“It’s not a case that Leicester desperately need him to avoid relegation although he home supports believe they were in danger especially with teams down the bottom starting to win.

“But I think this could’ve been done in the summer you just feel he could’ve seen the job out and then left and everyone would’ve said ‘listen than you, you’ve been brilliant’.

“The fact he keeps talking about him being a Celtic manager and doing anything for the club, then he leaves at this stage of the season, it doesn’t sit well."
