Picks of the week

The Fall, Sundays on RTE1 9.30pm, Episode 1 screens again this Thursday on BBC3, 9pm

The Fall returns with season 3, picking up just where if left off, and Paul Spector is still alive. Mixed reviews so far, some saying it's like an episode of Casualty, but there's a powerful speech from Detective Stella Gibson towards the end. Catch up on the RTE player or BBC 3 on Thursday to make your own mind up.

Damned, Tuesday, Channel 4, 10pm

Jo Brand brings us a brand new comedy series, set around a team of Children's Services social workers. Brand has based this on show on her own 82 year old mother's social work, which she still continues to this day. There's hints of The Office there, and reviews have been great so far.

The Travellers, Wednesday, RTE1, 9.35pm

More often than not, minority groups are documented by outsiders, but in this new series, actor John Connors and a team of fellow travellers set about exploring the history of his community from the inside.

The Hip Hop World News, Friday, BBC4, 9pm

Rapper Rodney P explores the roots of modern hip-hop, taking a trip down memory lane and revisiting New York of the 1970's, to discover the elements of economy, education, culture and power that contributed to the birth of a genre.

Film of the week

Mud, Wednesday, Film 4, 6.20pm

Matthew McConaughey stars as Mud, who's hiding out on an island for killing a man in Texas, when two boys find him and decide to help him avoid capture from bounty hunters and reconnect with his true love.
