Wolves earned a stunning 2-0 win away to Manchester City in the Premier League this afternoon, to leave Pep Guardiola's side eight points adrift of table-toppers Liverpool.

A brace from Spaniard Adama Traoré in the 80th and 94th minutes secured all three points for the away side. The win moves Nuno Espirito Santo's Wolves up to 12th in the standings.

City boasted 76% of the possession and dominated the corner count nine to Wolves' one, but they couldn't convert that into goals.

Liverpool had yesterday stretched the lead at the top of the table to eight as James Milner's injury-time penalty clinched a 2-1 win over Brendan Rodgers' Leicester City.

City boss Pep Guardiola spoke honestly about the lack of quality in his side's performance.

"It was not our best day... we started well but we know how they defend.

"We got nervous a little bit, and our process to create chances was not good - especially in the first half.

Guardiola also spoke after the game about Wolves' style of play and spoke of his lack of surprise at how they set up.

"They play long balls and defend, and after they go on the counter-attack. They are incredibly organised - Moutinho, Ruben eves, Coady, Boly, they are good players. It's a physical team, a strong team - we knew it from last season.

"We know how good they are, we know the quality they have... we were not organised, we lost the balls in positions that we cannot lose. It was difficult."

The City manager was also asked after the game if he'll find it difficult to re-focus his players after today's disappointing result.

"We have to. It's our profession, this is my job and we have to come back again to try."

Today was the first time City have lost a Premier League game at home without scoring since March 2016.

City next travel to Crystal Palace on October 19th - the London outfit that were one of the teams to beat champions City in the league last term. Wolves will host Southampton on the same day.
