The Republic of Ireland have beaten Hungary 3-2 in their World Cup qualifying game.
Troy Parrott scored a hattrick for the national team, who have now booked their spot in the playoffs as a result.

Despite an early penalty by Parrott, the scales were tipped in Hungary's favour at half time, with a score of 2-1.
However, Parrott went on to level the score in the second half before scoring the final goal of the match in a grand finish.

It comes after Ireland's shock win against Portugal on Thursday, in a match which saw Christiano Ronaldo sent off the pitch with a red card.
That game ended with a score of two-nil to Ireland, with Troy Parrott also having scored both goals.

While few believed the team could make it to the 2026 World Cup playoffs, this week has brought an unexpected wave of hope for Irish supporters.
The country has not qualified for a World Cup since 2002, and has only entered the competition three times in the nation's history.
