Mesut Ozil's big money arrival was a sign that austerity at Arsenal was finally coming to an end.

But the Gunners new kit deal worth £30 million per year, which is the most lucrative in the Premier League, will fill the club's coffers.

With the stadium debts almost paid off and Arsene Wenger set to sign on, Arsenal could be on a verge of joining the financial elite.

To analyse the situation, we spoke to Andrew Mangan of Arseblog.

"We saw with the signing of Mesut Ozil, that they are prepared to spend the money when they have it. I think with the new deal with Puma and the new deal with Emirates, there is a substantial increase in the commercial income which is what has been holding them back in comparison to some of the other clubs," said Mangan.

"I think Stan Kroenke is in it for the long-term. I don't think he is in it to take money out of the club. The way the club is operated and the plan to build the stadium was so that they were never in the position to rely on a benefactor or sugar daddy. So they have trumpeted this self-sustaining mode. Arsenal are generating their own income and it is a huge step forward. The money will continue to come in because of these deals."
