When former Liverpool manager Roy Evans joined us on tonight's Off The Ball, Liverpool looked to be heading to a narrow 1 - 0 win courtesy of Mario Balotelli's clever finish.

But as Evans began to speak, the drama really began at Anfield in the Reds' first game back in the Champions League as Bulgarian opponents Ludogorets scored a late equaliser.

But that was not the end of it as Liverpool went down the other end and won a penalty which captain Steven Gerrard converted.

But what did Evans think of the match and Balotelli's performance once the referee brought some calm by blowing the final whistle?

"He keeps going outside the penalty area and getting possession there. But it's a bit meaningless at the end of the day. Obviously people want to see him in that box. At the end of the day he's got to do a little bit more. He looks a little bit lost at the moment as he finds his feet," said Evans, who was not impressed by the showings against Ludogorets or Aston Villa.

Irish Examiner and ESPN writer Miguel Delaney also spoke to us about Arsenal's 2 - 0 defeat at Borussia Dortmund with Delaney saying the game showed why "Arsenal are still second best in these situations".
