The Carlow hurlers defeated Antrim yesterday afternoon in the Leinster Qualifier Group by 2-18 to 1-11 in Netwatch Cullen Park.

It's the first time the Leinster side have defeated Antrim in the championship since 1976.

Carlow had lost their previous two games in the group to Laois and Westmeath by a combined five points and needed to win yesterday to have any hope of reaching the Leinster Championship quarter final.

The win left Pat English's side finishing third in the group and their season concluded as Laois defeated Westmeath in Portlaoise.

The Carlow manager was delighted to get the win when the side "had to win"

He spoke to KCLR's Brendan Hennessy after the game.
