One of the most exciting international football matches I've ever seen came at Euro 2000 (a brilliant tournament overall) when Spain and Yugoslavia slugged out a 4-3 contest in which La Furia Roja came out on top.

Of course, it was still the era when Spain underachieved with admirable consistency at major tournaments and they did that Italia 90.

Meeting Yugoslavia in the last-16, one day after Ireland overcame Romania on penalties, a Spanish side featuring the likes of captain and ex-Real Madrid striker Emilio Butragueno and Barcelona goalkeeping great Andoni Zubizaretta were undone by the genius of ex-Marseille and Red Star Belgrade playmaker Dragan Stojkovic.
