Paige VanZant relaunched her UFC career in ferocious style last night with a jumping head kick to defeat Bec Rawlings at UFC on Fox 21.

This was VanZant's first UFC victory since suffering a brutal submission loss to Rose Namajunas at UFC Fight Night 80 in December. 

The strawweight battle between VanZant and Rawlings formed part of the main card in Vancouver, in which the former settled the tie in the second round.

VanZant (7-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) stayed on the outskirts in the early exchanges, avoiding Rawlings' (7-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) striking game. Rawlings managed to land a few shots in the opening round which may have taken the preference of the judges, but VanZant finished the bout inside the first 20 seconds of the next round.
