Mesut Ozil on his day is hands down one of the best performers in this current Arsenal squad and some would go as far as to say the Premier League.

In recent years, Arsene Wenger has been reluctant to spend big or to bring in established names to the club but the signing of the German has been a masterstroke.

While he has not always hit the peaks in form that we know he is capable of, Ozil last night produced a moment of such high quality that it's easy to see why the London club shelled out more than £42 million in 2013.

Arsenal trailed their Champions League Group A clash against Ludogorets for the majority of the first half after early goals from Jonathan Cafu and Claudiu Keseru put the home side ahead.

New signing Granit Xhaka struck back for the visitors before Olivier Giroud drew Arsenal level just before the break.

With their grip on top spot in the group looking all but lost, Ozil conjured a moment of magic to secure the victory - Arsenal's third in four games in the group stage - to ensure they stayed ahead of Paris Saint-Germain as top seeds.

He collected a long ball just past the halfway line and streaked away from the Ludogorets defence. He then lifted the ball over the on-rushing Milan Borjan who had come past the edge of his box.

Cutting inside, he faked a shot which left two defenders sliding on the turf before calmly rolling the ball into an empty net. Whilst we accept that the quality of the opposition may not be as high as others in the competition, it remains a moment of sheer class none the less.
